Last chance to kayak this weekend! Kayak Pittsburgh will soon shut down for the season, but paddlers will have one last chance to get out and take a trip on the river this weekend. College students can kayak for free at both the North Park and downtown locations during regular business hours, 10 a.m.-dusk downtown and 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m. at North Park. Regular rates are $14 per hour for the first hour and $6 every half-hour after for solo kayaks, $20 and $8 for tandem kayaks, $14 and $6 for canoes and $15 and $5 for hydrobikes. Venture Outdoors members get $2 off with membership card.
Friday - Werewolf Paddle with Venture Outdoors. It's a full moon, and Venture Outdoors offers the chance to get on the river and see the city by moonlight on the water. They'll start with instruction and then paddle up the Allegheny, 5:45-8:30 p.m. Cost is $25 for members, $45 for non-members.
Saturday - Witch's Brew Tasting Hike. Join trip leaders Jessie and Kevin Hipolit for a two-mile hike through a cemetery, then seasonal brews and treats afterward. Time is 4-8 p.m., $25 for members, $40 for non-members.
Saturday - Westmoreland County Food Bank 5K Harvest Run/Walk, University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, 9 a.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m., $20 or $10 for students with current college ID. Please bring a non-perishable food item.
Saturday - Jack-O-Lantern Jog, Central Van & Storage, 595 Meadowlands Blvd., North Strabane Township, 9 a.m. All proceeds benefit the Community Scholarship Foundation of Canon-McMillan and Bucks for Bucs Scholarship Foundation of Chartiers-Houston.
