P-T's band on the run havin' fun

Tyler Larkin is late for band practice again. When he gets there, bandmates Sam Kistler, Paul Schick and Justin Welling begin to tease him about being on time.

"Sometimes, I hate them at practice," Justin says. But within minutes, the Penn-Trafford High School freshmen forget about their tiff and go back to setting up for practice.

"We get along, but occasionally we have our little fights," Paul says. "But, it's nothing that's enough to make us want to leave."

After playing in several kid garage bands, Sam and Justin wanted something more serious. They recruited Paul and Tyler to join them, and No Remorse was born a year and a half ago.

Since then, the group has performed at local nightclubs, theaters and festivals -- including Mr. Small's in Millvale and Harrison City ROCKS! in Penn Township.

Justin says playing at Mr. Smalls was his favorite gig.

"It was the best experience for us because of the number of big bands that have played there," he says.

Hopefully, No Remorse will follow in their footsteps, Justin says, but it still has a long way to go.

"It's great once you realize that everyone is going along with your music, but a lot of people haven't heard our music yet," he says. "A lot of kids around our age and younger know us, though."

The band mixes its six original songs in with classic rock/metal covers during performances.

Paul says he hopes to record a CD or a demo soon.

"We'll go as far as we can," he says.

Sam agrees.

"We're just having fun doing what we do," he says.
