P-T's Cerutti recovering from serious cut

Penn-Trafford forward Chris Cerutti is home one day after having his left arm cut by a skate blade during a game against Franklin Regional.

"He's doing pretty well," Penn-Trafford coach Todd Purvis said. "He's had some surgery, but we don't have any information on how long he's going to be out or if he's done for the season."

After scoring all three goals in a 3-2 win over PIHL Class AAA East Division rival Franklin Regional on Monday, Cerutti crashed the net and was accidentally slashed vertically along the outside of his left forearm by Franklin Regional goaltender James Orr.

The skate opened up 7-inch gash and left Cerutti on the ice where he was immediately treated by emergency medical personnel.

"You could see the muscle and it was the worst hockey cut I've ever seen in my life," Purvis said. "It was a tough thing to look at."

After receiving initial treatment on the ice, Cerutti was taken into the emergency medical facility at the Center Ice Arena in Delmont and stabilized before being taken to the hospital.

Cerutti is the leading scorer for Penn-Trafford (11-3-0) with 21 goals and 30 points. He is also being looked at by several United States Hockey League and North American Hockey League teams.

"There's nothing serious that will cost a long period of time," Purvis said. "He's just resting comfortably at home."
