A giant panda in China was being shown videos Sunday to teach her the bear necessities of panda parenting.

Hua Mei, who birthed two cubs Thursday, was being shown videos that teach the proper way to feed the cubs, reported Xinhua, China's main government-run news agency.

"We also play recordings of baby pandas' cries to remind her of her role," a worker at the Wolong panda reserve said.

Hua Mei, whose name means "China America," was born at the San Diego Zoo. She was returned to China in February in honor of a research cooperation program.

Hua Mei was the first giant panda born overseas to be returned to China and the first to be born and survive in the western hemisphere since 1990.

Pandas are among the world's most endangered animals, threatened by the loss of habitat and a low reproduction rate.
