Parking tickets don’t help business

This is in response to a meter violation I recently acquired while doing business in one of only two retail establishments on the 1000 block of Fifth Avenue, New Kensington.

My only motivation to visit the "downtown" section of the city would be to try to patronize the few remaining businesses left in town. Downtown New Kensington has nothing so unique to offer that would draw people to the area and, therefore, create a premium for parking. Whatever little business I can do in downtown New Kensington, I can do for free anywhere else.

There is a lesson to be learned from this. And the lesson that the city will learn will be much more costly than mine. Wake up, New Ken, and leave your meter maids at home.
