Dusty Kirk and Bill Caroselli co-hosted the Riverlife Posh Party at the Pier at the Rivers Casino on the North Shore. August 29, 2015.

He was billed as an honorary chair, but word quickly spread that only Academy Award nominee Michael Keaton‘s spirit would be attending RiverLife’s Party at the Pier on Aug. 28.

So the natives tempered their restlessness with a shot of good nature.

“I was going to wear my Batman suit,” mused Patrick Jordan. “I love the guy! I’ve been wanting to meet him. The coolest thing about Michael Keaton is that he’s still a Pittsburgh guy.”

With an impending filming schedule to blame, consolation over the man of the hour’s absence was ushered in by a magnificently abundant cocktail hour that encouraged a hefty dose of people-watching. Len Singel (with Tim Reed) arrived head-to-toe in a tropics-inspired suit. Nicole Gern dusted off her fascinator. Nary an ensemble was seen that didn’t epitomize the theme.

“It’s a Posh Picnic,” laughed Bernie Kobosky, clad in a tailored Tallia Orange blazer and white trousers. An outfit, his wife Dr. Lisa Cibik explained, that came without an assist from her.

“We can’t keep up with him,” joked his stepdaughter, Ali Good.

Meanwhile, surroundings at the amphitheater adjacent to Rivers Casino included exclusive picnic settings for VIPs. There, tables for two and four came replete with noshes of refined proportions and chilled bottles of champagne for the likes of party chairs Diane andJerry Holder and Dusty Elias Kirk and Bill Caroselli, Rep. Mike and Susan Doyle, Craig Dunham andCaryn Rubinoff, Kristen and Chuck Hammel, Kathy Buechel andFred Egler, Karalyn Emrich, James andSara Guttman, Mary Lou McLaughlin, John Oliver andSylvia Dallas, Pam and Terry Wirginis, and acting director Jay andKelly Sukernek.

“The waterfront is really where the renaissance is. … It’s for everyone to enjoy,” said incoming prexy Vivien Li.

The event raised a record $275K.
