Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating an accident this morning in which an elderly man was struck and killed by a delivery truck in the parking lot of a Bellevue supermarket.

Bellevue police Chief Matt Sentner said the 86-year-old — who was walking into Kuhn's grocery store from his car — either tripped and fell, or bumped into the rear bumper of the truck and fell at about 8:45 this morning.

He was then run over by the rear passenger-side tires as the truck was backing up into the loading dock to make a delivery.

Police were not identifying the victim until his family could be notified.
