Penn Hills’ Ifill picks Pitt
Penn Hills defensive back Brandon Ifill verbally committed to Pitt today over Maryland, Michigan, West Virginia and Rutgers. Ifill made the announcement at a news conference at the Comfort Inn in Penn Hills.
Rated a three-star prospect and the No. 25 senior prospect in Pennsylvania by Rivals.com, Ifill (6-foot, 174 pounds) had 12 other scholarship offers from BCS schools.
Ifill said he chose the Panthers because of Pitt’s academics and for the possibility of early playing time at cornerback.
Ifill also was the leading receiver this season for Penn Hills. He caught 22 of the Indians’ 72 completions for 253 yards, helping them to the WPIAL Class AAAA quarterfinals.
One of four Division I recruits from Penn Hills this year, Ifill joins Indians defensive tackle Aaron Donald as a Pitt commit. Defensive back Cullen Christian recently committed to Michigan, and linebacker Myles Davis is committed to Syracuse.
Pitt has 24 verbal commitments.
