STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Jamelle Cornley scored 18 points and Penn State beat Morgan State 80-71 on Saturday.

The Lions (5-2) broke open a close game in the final five minutes, extending their lead to double figures with just over three minutes remaining on Mike Walker's third 3-pointer.

Penn State's Geary Claxton, who broke the pinkie on his right hand during the preseason, added a season-best 15 points, despite sporting a bandage. Penn State received solid inside play from center Brandon Hassell, who finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Joseph McLean scored 11 of his 15 points in the first half for the winless Bears (0-6). Reggie Holmes led Morgan State with 16 and Jamar Smith added 13 points. Ronal Timus, the Bears' leading scorer, was limited to eight points on 3-of-7 shooting.

Lions point guard Ben Luber, who averages a team-leading six assists, was elbowed in the face and left the game at the 16:58 mark of the second half. He did not return.
