Did your local school make the grade?

Scores from 2017 state tests are now available on the Pennsylvania Department of Education website.

You'll find state level and school level data for both the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment, known as the PSSA, as well as the Keystone Exams.

The PSSA exam is administered annually in grades three through eight in reading and math. Students in grades four and eight also take a science exam.

Keystone exams are taken throughout middle and high school in Algebra 1, biology and literature.

Standardized tests are one of several ways schools measure student achievement and meet federal requirements for accountability.

The results from the 2017 PSSA exams will be used to calculate the School Performance Profile (SPP), which assigns a numerical grade for school performance. The SPP will be released in October, according to the state Department of Education.

The department will replace the SPP with the Future Ready PA Index during the 2019-20 school year.
