HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania State Police have released a new smartphone app to help people report suspicious activity that may be linked to terrorism.

The agency says the “See Something, Send Something” app allows people to send reports of the activity as a written note or photo. It’s sent to the Pennsylvania Criminal Intelligence Center.

State police Commissioner Frank Noonan says the tips will then be evaluated by analysts and assigned for investigation as warranted. Noonan says the system allows investigators to engage citizens without tracking location or storing personal information.

The application is free for iPhone and Android phone users. It also includes information on what to look for and when to report suspicious activity.
