Michael Bowen

Noteworthy: Bowen recently won two grants for a book project on Watergate: the Everett Dirksen Congressional Research Award to conduct archival research at the Library of Congress in Washington and AFL-CIO Archives at the National Labor College in Silver Spring, Md., and a grant to do research at Carl Albert Congressional Center and Archives at the University of Oklahoma. The book's working title is “The Watergate Babies and the Transformation of the Democratic Party.” Bowen authored “The Roots of Modern Conservatism: Dewey, Taft, and the Battle for the Soul of the Republican Party.”

Occupation: Assistant professor of history at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Lawrence County, since 2011. Before joining the Westminster faculty, he taught history at the University of Florida for five years.

Education: Bachelor of arts degree in history from East Tennessee State University in 1997 and a master's degree in history from the university in 1999. He earned a doctorate in history in 2006 from the University of Florida.
