PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia police have released surveillance video of a man they're calling the "shushing bandit" who tried to rob a grocery store last month.
Owner Hing Pun tells WTXF-TV she was terrified when the man, wearing a Halloween mask, entered her Chuen Hing Grocery Store on May 20, then demanded money from her daughter who was working as the cashier.
Police say the suspect was so unnerved by Pun's screams that he put his finger to his lips and shushed the woman. The robber also pulled a gun on Pun's husband when he tried to intervene, then ran away before he could take anything after first trying to unsuccessfully shush others at the store.
Police say the suspect was wearing an aqua-colored backpack that they hope someone will recognize.
