Pens must capitalize on home ice

The Penguins are hoping to take advantage of home-ice advantage in Game 1. They were 3-0-1 at home against the Rangers but 0-3-1 at Madison Square Garden.

"We played three of the worst games we played all season in that building for whatever reason," Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik said. "We played well here, but the playoffs are a whole different story."

At the game

For the second consecutive series the Penguins will have a TV screen measuring 12 feet by 16 feet Toutside Gate 3 at Mellon Arena for those fans who couldn't get tickets to the game, but still want the feel of being there. It will be up and operational, weather permitting, for Games 1 and 2 against the Rangers.

Fan friendly

In a newly released ESPN The Magazine poll, the Penguins were named the best team in the NHL in fan relations. They were also third overall in that category among the 122 professional sports franchises in baseball, football, basketball and hockey. Overall, the Penguins finished 24th, one spot ahead of the Steelers and seventh among NHL teams. The Pirates were 101st.

On Demand

The second episode of "Road to the Cup," featuring Penguins broadcasters Mike Lange and Phil Bourque, is available at no additional cost to all Comcast digital cable customers.

To access the program, fans may select the "Your Town" category from the On Demand menu and then the "Sports/Pens TV/Playoffs" folder.
