The Band Bash in the Hills, scheduled to be held at Linden Hall this past Saturday, was canceled. Evidently, it was canceled in time for it to be placed in my last column, but I was not notified. The posters advertising this event were also left up well after the event was canceled. If your group has scheduled an event that was announced in my column and then must cancel the event, please notify me. If you have printed posters, flyers, etc. that are being used to advertise the event, please see that they are taken down and disposed of. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused my readers.

Thanks to Aggie Compton, of Mill Run, Kathy Turek, of Leisenring, and Nancy Fulmer for correctly answering last week's trivia question. The correct answer was a burning bush.
Now for this week's question. This tree is native to Pennsylvania. It is unique in the fact that it blooms in the fall, from late August until early October or longer. It has oblate-shaped leaves and its seeds are housed in little burrs, that can be quite painful to the touch. It reproduces not only by seeds, but by sprouts and runners. The bark, leaves, roots and seeds are used medicinally today, to make astringent products. The Native Americans once used it to treat stomach and intestinal problems. The flowers of this plant are quite pretty. They are a yellow tubular flower with red inside. If you know the answer to this week's question, give me a call at 724-529-2625 or e-mail me at bethannlynn@hotmail.com. You can also drop me a line at 276 Banning Road, Dawson, PA 15428-1175.
Until next time, friends, keep smiling and have a great two weeks!
