A Perryopolis man was injured Tuesday when he was hit by a vehicle at a Perry Township service station.

The accident occurred at 2:05 p.m. as Clarence Bird, 86, was walking to the store from the gas pumps at the Gulf service station in Star Junction, police said. He was struck by a 1996 Honda driven by Cherie Adams, of Dravosburg.

Bird was taken to The Uniontown Hospital to be treated for a cut on his scalp and bruise on his chest. He was placed in the intensive care unit for observation because he was having problems breathing, according to state police.
