Personality Test: Magician Matthew Sigler

Matthew Sigler -- a magician from Sutersville, Westmoreland County -- performs his magic tricks throughout Western Pennsylvania, including this spring at the Three Rivers Arts Festival in Downtown. Sigler also teaches workshops where he shows kids of all ages how to do magic tricks using simple household items such as coins, ropes and a deck of cards. Sigler took a magical moment out of his schedule to take the Trib's personality test.

The star who would play me in the movie version of my life and why:

I could see someone like Jason Bateman. He is funny, but not over the top.

Childhood hero and why:

Spider-Man. He was just this regular guy who got these incredible powers, and he could be funny while fighting the bad guys.

The piece of memorabilia from my childhood I wish I still had.

I had some great magic kits when I was younger. They are part of the reason that I am a performer today. It would be fun to pull them out and play with them again.

The superpower I wish I had in real life and why:

Teleportation, because I'm usually running late.

I can't live without my: iPod, cell phone, DVR, or laptop?

DVR - it's so much fun to skip the commercials!

My favorite reality show:

"Hell's Kitchen." I love Gordon Ramsay and I love to watch him yell at other people!

App that I wish I could invent:

One where you could push a button and instantly talk to loved ones ... oh, wait a minute ...

Omelets

Reading. Is that a guilty pleasure?

Pirates. I love Pittsburgh sports, but I have been a Pirates fan as long as I can remember, and I am holding out hope that they can turn it around soon.

Troy Polamalu. I like that he is humble and reserved and just goes out and does his job the best he can

Be healthier, wiser and more successful

My favorite thing about Pittsburgh is:

It's not a cookie-cutter city. It always does its own thing. It's very unique and has so much to do and see and eat that you just can't anywhere else.

Star I'd like to dance with on "Dancing with the Stars":

Kaley Cuoco seems like she would be a fun dance partner.

Three people I'd love to have dinner with:

Abraham Lincoln, Harry Houdini and C.S. Lewis

My quirkiest inherited trait:

My sense of humor. My dad has a very quirky sense of, and I try to put that into my act when I can.

Reuben with lots of melted Swiss cheese and Russian dressing

One word my mother would use to describe me:

Funny and sensitive - I know its two words, but she's my mom so just lay off!

The oldest thing in my refrigerator is:

A Tupperware container that I'm pretty sure was around for the Bush administration - the first one!

When I was 10, I wanted to be:

A magician and a baseball player. One out of two isn't too bad!

"The Andy Griffith Show." If I could live anywhere it would be Mayberry. They just don't make shows like that anymore. It still makes me laugh.

Doing magic, of course! — usually behind the counter of the Cuckoo's Nest on the South Side.
