Personality Test: Taylor Maglin
Taylor Maglin, 25, of Squirrel Hill is the founder/owner of thedailyloud.com, a Pittsburgh-based website that covers the world of hip-hop. It's also quickly becoming one of the go-to sources on the subject for fans worldwide.
In three years, Maglin has grown the site exponentially — including about 255,000 Twitter followers and 73,000 likes on its Facebook page — with people all over the world checking in to hear the latest tracks and news.
“We have helped, and continue to help, many up-and-coming rappers,” says Maglin, “(from) established rappers such as Taylor Gang rapper and Pittsburgh native Chevy Woods, to Chicago emerging rapper Lil Herb, Atlanta's Gucci Mane, R&B sensation Bryson Tiller and much more.”
TheDailyLoud has taken off enough that Maglin can now concentrate on the site, instead of working on it in the downtime between various jobs in restaurants.
“I had no one in my corner,” Maglin says. “I just pursued what I loved and studied how to efficiently market my website through a lot of trial and error, and three years later, I don't have to work a day job.”
The star who would play me in the movie version of my life:
Most likely Jeremy Piven. His role as Ari Gold (in “Entourage”) was incredible, and I see myself as “Ari” in real life, except in the music world.
Childhood hero:
I would have to say Chris Farley, probably one of the funniest people who ever lived. He always made me laugh no matter what. Whenever I would be upset, I would just watch “Tommy Boy.” Such a classic.
The piece of memorabilia from my childhood I wish I still had:
Probably my Sega Genesis; I loved the old-school video games. Then my dad gave my Sega to Goodwill without telling me; but hey, at least someone somewhere is enjoying it.
The superpower I wish I had in real life:
I wish I could teleport; I can't stand traffic and waiting on people. I'm an impatient person.
I can't live without my iPod, cellphone, DVR or laptop:
Cellphone, 100 percent. I conduct all my business on there. Without it, I would be lost.
My favorite reality show:
Probably “Cops.” I find it extremely entertaining.
App I wish I could invent:
Instagram. I would be worth millions.
Favorite brunch food:
Eggs, bacon and toast. All together, can't go wrong.
Favorite guilty pleasure:
Watching my grandparents fight
Best mistake I've ever made:
Dropping out of college. It indirectly gave me the drive to go after what I loved. However, that does not work all the time, so, “Kids, please stay in school.”
Something I would do over if I could:
I would definitely be nicer to people. I was such a jerk to people in school. I wish I could slap my younger self at times.
My favorite Pittsburgh athlete:
Antonio Brown. Lightning speed.
Favorite lunchtime spot:
Chipotle, so good. Definitely pay the extra $1.95 for the guacamole.
Top thing on my bucket list:
Be onstage while the producer/DJ I work with, No Sleep, headlines Ultra Fest in Miami.
In five years, I'd like to:
Be happy, have my own record label
My favorite thing about Pittsburgh:
The weather. Kidding. Probably the city at night and the people here.
Star I'd like to dance with on “Dancing With the Stars”:
Melanie Iglesias. Definitely follow her on Instagram as well. You can thank me later.
Three people I'd love to have dinner with:
Will Ferrell, Drake and Tupac
My quirkiest inherited trait:
I have the worst A.D.D. possible; it's taking me forever to finish this survey.
My favorite sandwich, plus fixings:
Reuben, with sauerkraut and extra Thousand Island dressing. So good.
One word my mother would use to describe me:
Determined

Melanie Iglesias

A rapper, but later realized I was white.
Exercise I hate most:
Jumping Jacks. The worst.
I'm deathly afraid of:
Going back to a “day job”
If I were auditioning for “American Idol,” my song would be:
Frank Ocean's “Novacane,” but I can't sing so I would get cut off immediately and asked to leave.
The first band I saw in concert:
I saw Usher with my father when I was 10 ... probably shouldn't have been there.
The best concert I've ever seen:
That's tough. Wiz Khalifa was great live though.

Favorite Pittsburgh-area landmark:
Mt. Washington — just like almost everyone in this city
Saturday mornings, you'll find me:
Working on the laptop or in bed hungover
Best new gadget I've tried recently:
Smart Board. It's a Segway without handle bars. Extremely dangerous and fun.
The person I'm most often mistaken for:
Danny DeVito. Once again, kidding. I don't know; no one has ever really mistaken me as anyone.
The worst advice I ever received:
“Go for a job where you get paid the most.” Please, God, don't ever take this advice. Do what you honestly enjoy, otherwise you will be miserable, no matter how much money you have.
In high school, I was:
An idiot. I should've tried harder, to be honest.
The most famous person I ever became friends with:
Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, Gucci Mane

“Pursuit Of Happyness” (2006)
My most treasured fashion accessory:

“Social Media Marketing for Musicians.” Good read.

Aiello's hands down, and I used to work at Mineo's as a kid, too.
Movie I could watch every time it appears on cable:
“8 Mile” (2002)
My most memorable fashion mistake:
Parting my hair to the side like Steven Glanzberg

Drake. He's living the dream all day, every day.

T-Mags or Mags
My favorite “bad” movie is:
“Mortal Kombat” (1995). Absolutely terrible, but I loved it.
My first job:
Mineo's Pizza House, dishwasher
My worst job:
Every job prior to what I do now.
Favorite cable channel:
Fuse, but I rarely watch TV
The song that always gets me out on the dance floor:
T-Pain “Buy U A Drank.” It's simply a hit record.
Life would be better without:
Hate
If I could tour with any two bands, they would be:
Drake or J. Cole, because they are simply great entertainers and artists.
I never travel without my:
Cellphone
People would be surprised to know that:
I saved someone's life in a riptide when I was 12.
