Pesce named general counsel at Neville

Manufacturing

Neville Chemical Co. named William J. Pesce general counsel. He joined the company in 1982 as manager, insurance and employee benefits, and in 1995 assumed the position of director, human resources. Pesce also was elected secretary of the board of directors.

Banking and finance

Community Bank, National Association named Charles R. "Randy" Guthrie to its board of directors. He is president of accounting firm Guthrie, Belczyk & Associates, P.C. and holds the same title with the financial services arm of the group, GB Financial Services, Inc.

Accounting

Alpern Rosenthal named Celeste M. Suchko and Robert M. Brown tax shareholders and F. Jeffrey Kovacs joined the firm as an accounting and audit shareholder. Suchko provides business and individual tax planning, compliance and consulting; tax implications of mergers, acquisitions and dispositions; and representation before tax authorities. Brown leads the international tax services group. He has worked on many large international engagements with U.S. and foreign based multinationals. Kovacs is responsible for quality control policies and procedures. Previously, he was a partner in regional accounting firms based in Philadelphia and Columbus, Ohio.

  • Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. named Katherine Horigan an associate in its Pittsburgh office. She works in the creditors' rights and bankruptcy group, and had been a law clerk for the firm. Previously, she provided research assistance to the Pennsylvania Standard Jury Instructions and the Pennsylvania Sentencing Commission.

  • Burns, White & Hickton named litigation associates John B. Cromer , Jennifer L. McPeak and Christopher Pierson members. Cromer concentrates his practice in civil litigation including product liability, professional malpractice, insurance coverage, and contract matters. Previously, he was a judicial law clerk to Chief Judge Tom Lambros of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. McPeak focuses in the areas of commercial litigation, professional malpractice and civil rights litigation. She was admitted to the Bar in 1996. Pierson concentrates his practice on workers' compensation. He joined the law firm in 2000 as an associate.

  • Mark A. May , Dean M. Naccarato and Barbara A. Scheib were elected directors in the Pittsburgh office of Cohen & Grigsby P.C. May concentrates his practice in the areas of general commercial litigation and insurance coverage, including contract disputes and business interruption claims. Naccarato focuses his practice in the areas of taxation, mergers and acquisitions, and international business. Specific areas include federal, state and local tax issues for public and private companies; corporate, partnership and international tax planning issues; and transactional tax issues. Scheib concentrates her practice on general and complex commercial litigation, including contract disputes, trade secret matters and commercial tort claims. She represented clients in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, media, financial services, software and heathcare.

    Tara LoPinto joined WordWrite Communications as an account executive. She provides expertise to clients, which include CB Richard Ellis, Koppers Inc. and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare.

  • Ronald S. Gaydos joined Heritage Health Foundation, Inc., as vice president of development. He is responsible for community and economic development and government and business relations. Previously, Gaydos was a project manager for Allegheny County and was responsible for multiple high-profile projects for the Allegheny County Department of Economic Development and the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh.

  • Herb Dankmyer joined St. Barnabas Charities as manager of community, organization relations. He is responsible for recruiting churches, schools and other community organizations to participate in St. Barnabas' various community outreach programs. Previously, Dankmyer served as president of the board of directors and then church relations liaison for Hosanna Industries.

    Nonprofits

    Dress for Success Pittsburgh elected five new members to its board of directors: Amy Thumpston , owner, Accents by Amy; Ananda Cyganovich , fashion consultant; Cynthia Flood , Art Institute of Pittsburgh; Beth Slagle , partner, Meyer, Unkovic and Scott, LLP; and Rachel Thomas , formerly of the United Way of Allegheny County.

  • Nationwide Insurance named Mike Delaney to work with Diemert Insurance, Inc. as an associate agent. He handles commercial, home, auto and life insurance policies in the Bridegeville and North Hills offices.

  • John R. Lohr was elected northwest area executive of the National Association of Farm Service Agency County Office Employees for the 2005-2006 term. Lohr is a county executive director for the Westmoreland County Farm Service Agency Office and has been employed by the USDA Farm Service Agency in Westmoreland for 27 years. NASCOE provides a national medium to exchange information and ideas which will render better service to American agriculture.

  • The National Funeral Directors Association named Patrick Lanigan an at-large representative of the executive board for 2005-2007. Lanigan, of Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Homes of East Pittsburgh, is a certified funeral practitioner. He will attend meetings of the executive and policy boards and the House of Delegates, and will be an executive board liaison on committees, subcommittees or task forces as appointed by the NFDA president.

  • Kevin Ben joined Hilb Rogal & Hobbs as a senior risk control consultant. He provides risk management consulting services for companies in the Pittsburgh office. Ben is a certified safety professional and has completed his ARM. Previously, he worked for PMA Insurance.

  • Smokey Bones Barbeque & Grill named Wade Hartzel general manager of the new restaurant at Greengate Centre. Previously, he was manager of the Smokey Bones in Cranberry Township.
