Ingram residents have launched a petition drive against the Montour School District's plans to build an $18.7 million elementary school.

Mike Steele, chairman of the Ingram Democratic Party, and a group of 35 residents are circulating the petition in Ingram and are lining up people to circulate it in Robinson, Kennedy, Thornburg and Pennsbury Village.

Steele is also organizing a fund-raising event to cover legal fees generated in the fight.

The Montour School Board is expected to discuss plans for the school at a building and planning committee meeting April 10. It may vote to approve moving forward with construction April 23.
