A statue of Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott was unveiled in Dublin, Ireland, Saturday on what would have been his 56th birthday.

Lynott died of heart failure in January 1986, after years of battling drug addiction. He was 34.

Paul Daly's sculpture cast in bronze by Leo Higgins was unveiled by Lynott's mother in a crowd that included musicians and friends of her late son, the BBC reported.

"I love him forever and I will miss him forever," she told the BBC. "Life is awful without him but knowing all these people are loving him the way they do, they are like a big woolly cloak around me."

A tribute concert featuring former members of Thin Lizzy was scheduled for Saturday night.
