AT&T donated 1,250 prepaid phone cards to Crisis Center North, a domestic violence counseling and educational resource center, in honor of the center’s 24th anniversary. The cards will be used to help victims of domestic violence and their children. The center will share the cards with 60 domestic violence programs across the state. Grace Coleman, executive director of Crisis Center North, said many domestic violence victims are isolated from friends and family by their abusers. Coleman said the phone cards will provide victims with more opportunities to make phone calls without their abusers knowing. North Hills Volunteers are needed to participate in the CareBreak program of The Watson Institute, which is based in Sewickley. The program pairs volunteers with families who have a child or children with disabilities. The program provides an opportunity for relationships between volunteers and children with special needs and gives the children’s parents time to themselves.
