As part of a Cooper-Siegel Community Library event, the Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Department opened its doors July 22 to a tour group.

About a dozen members of the Adventures of the Burg group — organized through the Fox Chapel-based library — took part in the excursion to the Main Street fire house in Sharpsburg.

The department is the oldest serving volunteer company in the county as it started in 1871.
