A man was killed and his daughter injured last night when they were struck by a pickup truck in New Brighton, Beaver County, police said.
Robert J. Lancos, 67, of Industry died after being struck around 7:40 p.m. by a truck driven by Richard Disney, 24, of Monaca. The incident happened in front of the Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe in the 1100 block of Third Avenue, police said.
Lancos's daughter, Susan Miller, 44, of Beaver also was hit by Disney. She was taken to the Beaver County Medical Center.
"There was a couple crossing the road when they were struck by a red Nissan," said Michael McKinney, 40, who saw the accident. "The man was pushed up onto the hood of the truck and carried (a short distance).
"I got out, called 911 and went to check on the woman who was laying on the street, being tended to by two other women. ... Then I checked on the guy. A couple of people were trying to help him, doing CPR. Then everybody — paramedics, police — showed up," McKinney said.
The accident is under investigation by New Brighton police and Beaver County detectives.
