The PIHL's Northeast All-Stars were announced early last week, as the league's all-star games approach.

The matchups take place Jan. 30 at Ice Castle in Castle Shannon.

In Class AA, three Greensburg Central Catholic players were chosen for the first-team offensive squad and Centurions coach Joe Dykta has been chosen as coach.

Doug Francken, John Kennedy and Evan George will suit up and represent the Northeast team under Dykta.

Kennedy is tied for sixth in the Class AA scoring race with 37 points, helping the Centurions hold second-place in the Eastern Division behind first-place Indiana Area.

The Indians will send four players to the all-star showdown this week.

Class AA scoring co-leader Cory Mills and teammates Mike Jack and Jeff Beers will be on the squad. Beers will be on the defensive team, while Jack on the offensive.

Mills has 42 points, including 19 goals.

"Cory has been one of those phenomenal players," Indiana Area coach Dom Glavich said. "He is doing things right on and off the ice. It helps keeps him atop the scoring race and us atop the standings."

In the net, the Indians will send junior goaltender Mike Kennedy, while Glavich will be an assistant coach.

"It is definitely an honor," said Glavich, who will be making his third appearance as a coach at the PIHL All-Star game. "It is pretty flattering and it is always a good time."

Also on the first-team offensive squad is Greater Latrobe's Matt Mesaros, who has 14 points and a team-high 11 goals. Kittanning's Joel Shriver will be on the defensive team.

  • In Class AAA, the offensive squad will have Norwin's Jim Recupero, Penn-Trafford's Kyle Sidle and Chris Cerutti, Franklin Regional's Joe Ferriero and Joel Sirianni and Hempfield Area's Nick Reed.

On defense, Devin McCusker and Dan Sidle will represent Penn-Trafford, while Shane Warren was the lone Norwin defenseman to be selected.

Penn-Trafford's junior goaltender Joel Sterniak has been selected after helping the Warriors remain atop the Eastern Division.

    Highlights from last week
