Pine-Richland Middle School has new assistant principal
Pine-Richland Middle School will soon welcome a new administrator to the building.
Ashley Boyers, 31, of Richland was hired as assistant principal at the middle school during the school board's Nov. 9 planning meeting.
“We're glad to have Mr. Boyers as part of our team,” said Superintendent Brian Miller after Boyers' hiring was approved.
Boyers is replacing Caitlin Bogosta, whose resignation was approved at the end of September by the board.
He will receive an $82,000 salary pro-rated upon his start date, which has yet to be determined.
Boyers is currently the assistant principal at Blackhawk High School, where he has been for seven years in various roles including learning support teacher and cyber school coordinator.
Prior to that, he was a learning support teacher at West Greene High School.
His new job will be much closer to home.
Boyers said he and wife, Tara, recently built a home in the district after deciding it was the best place for their 21-month-old daughter to attend school. He is excited to be able to serve his community and be close to home and his young family.
“Obviously Pine-Richland is a very progressive school district that strives to achieve,” he said. “When we were looking to build, school of choice where our daughter would go was an important choice.”
Boyers received a bachelor's in special education and elementary education from Waynesburg College and a master's of education in school leadership and administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He also earned his K-12 principal certification from Pitt.
Some influential teachers throughout his life are what inspired Boyers to get into education. Raised by his great-grandmother, he said he had a somewhat non-traditional upbringing.
In third grade he began to struggle academically and had a teacher who took an interest in him and helped him after school.
“I always valued that,” Boyers said. “That was something that always stuck with me. I still keep in touch with that teacher today.”
After his great-grandmother died when he was 17, Boyers was adopted by his football coach and friend's father.
His adoptive parents were also teachers, a fact that was not lost on Boyers.
“I say teachers saved my life,” he said. “I strive to give back and be a positive influence in other people's lives.”
