Pirates farm report
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 51-56) won, 10-2, at home against Syracuse (Blue Jays). Starter Tom Gorzelanny won his first game with the Indians. He allowed five hits and one run in five innings. Left fielder Nyjer Morgan had three hits, including a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Pine-Richland’s Neil Walker was 1 for 3 with three RBI, while center fielder Andrew McCutchen had two hits and two RBI. Brian Bixler and Josh Wilson had two RBI each.
ALTOONA (Double-A, 47-58) lost, 4-3, at Harrisburg (Nationals). Starter Kyle Bloom took the loss, dropping his record to 2-5. He allowed four runs (three earned), seven hits and struck out six in six innings. Reliever Jeffrey Sues gave up two hits and struck out three in two innings. Left fielder Melvin Dorta (2 for 4) drove in all three runs for Altoona with a two-run home run in the sixth and a solo shot in the eighth.
LYNCHBURG (High-A, 45-57) lost, 6-4, at Salem (Astros). Second baseman Jim Negrych (.371) had two hits and an RBI. Right fielder Jamie Romak (.291) was 1 for 4 with two RBI. Starter Anthony Watson (6-10, 3.67) allowed six runs and eight hits in 62/3 innings.
HICKORY (Low-A, 41-62) lost, 8-1, at Charleston (Yankees). Third baseman Matt Hague (1 for 3) doubled home shortstop Greg Picart (1 for 3, one double) for Hickory’s only run. Relievers Serguey Linares and Adam Simon allowed six runs, four hits and walked four in two innings combined. Starter Michael Felix (4-4, 4.09) picked up the loss. He allowed two runs and four hits in five innings.
STATE COLLEGE (SS-A, 9-25) won, 4-3, at home against Batavia (Cardinals). Brian Leach allowed just three hits and struck out five in five innings of relief to pick up his first win of the season. Third baseman Jeremy Farrell was 2 for 4, including his third double this season and an RBI. Second baseman Chad Rice was 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Left fielder Quincy Latimore and center fielder Ciro Rosero each had two hits and a stolen base.
