Pirates farm report
A look at how the Pirates’ farm teams fared in games played Friday:
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 47-39) lost, 5-1, at home against Toledo (Tigers). Left-hander Oliver Perez (0-2) allowed all five runs, including three home runs, in seven-plus innings. Center fielder Chris Duffy went 3 for 5 with a double and a triple. Catcher Carlos Maldonado had an RBI double and a single.
ALTOONA (Double-A, 50-35) won, 5-4, at Erie (Tigers). Designated hitter Brett Roneberg drove in the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning. Catcher David Parrish collected three hits and two RBI. Right-hander Franklin Perez (2-0) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief for the win.
LYNCHBURG (High Single-A, 3-11 second half) lost, 6-5, at home against Salem (Astros). First baseman Juan Tejeda went 3 for 4 and scored three runs in the loss. Third baseman Michael Carlin, catcher John Suomi and shortstop Dan Schwartzbauer each had two hits and an RBI. Right-hander Derek Hankins (3-7) struck out seven in eight innings but still took the loss.
HICKORY (Low Single-A, 5-11 second half) lost, 13-7, at home against Augusta (Giants). Catcher Christopher Jones went 2 for 2 with three RBI for Hickory. Second baseman Shelby Ford had three hits, an RBI and two runs scored. Right-hander Luis Valdez (3-2) surrendered seven runs, but just two earned, in 2/3 of an inning.
WILLIAMSPORT (Single-A short season, 7-8) won, 4-3, at home against Batavia (Phillies). Catcher A.J. Johnson and right fielder Miles Durham each drove in runs for the Crosscutters. Third baseman Alexander Peralta was the only player to reach base twice (two walks). Right-hander Henry Cabrera (3-0) pitched three hitless relief innings.
BRADENTON (Rookie, 9-6) had its game at the Gulf Coast League Twins postponed.
