A look at how the Pirates’ farm teams fared in games played Friday:
NASHVILLE (21-19) won 8-7 at Sacramento (Athletics). C J.R. House hit for the cycle, becoming the second player in Nashville’s 27-year history to accomplish the feat. His homer was the eighth of the season. Dave Williams (2-1) started and won, allowing five runs and eight hits in six innings. He struck out four and walked one. Mark Corey earned his 10th save. CF Rich Thompson, LF Tony Alvarez and SS Shaun Skrehot each had a pair of hits.
ALTOONA (21-19) was rained out at Akron (Indians).
LYNCHBURG (18-22) won 4-1 at Frederick (Orioles). Patrick O’Brien (2-2) started and won, allowing one run and three hits in six innings. He struck out three and walked one. Joshua Higgins earned his eighth save. 1B Brad Eldred was 2 for 5 with a home run (No. 9) and two RBI. 2B Victor Mercedes and SS Taber Lee each had a pair of hits.
HICKORY (24-17) won 5-4 at home against Delmarva (Orioles). Yoann Torrealba (3-2) won in relief of starter Brian Holliday, who allowed four runs and seven hits in six innings. He struck out six and walked two. CF Nyjer Morgan was 3 for 5 with a double, triple and two RBI. 3B Mike Collum had a solo homer (No. 3).
