Pirates general manager Neal Huntington this afternoon strongly denied Internet reports that shortstop Jack Wilson has been traded to the Detroit Tigers.

"No deal has been finalized," Huntington said.

Huntington paused and chuckled.

"The gossip network is amazing," he said.

A source close to Wilson also confirmed that no deal has been done.

The Pirates have let it be known that Wilson is available, and the Tigers are among a handful of teams with strong interest.

"We have ongoing talks with a number of teams," Huntington said. "But I do not want to comment on any rumors."
