Pitt offers Apollo-Ridge's Tipton
Apollo-Ridge junior wide receiver Tre Tipton made enough of an impression at the Pitt Prospect Camp on Friday to get a scholarship offer from the host Panthers — his seventh Division I offer to date.
Pitt wants him as a wide receiver.
Recruiting quickly is picking up steam for the 6-foot-1, 170-pound wide receiver/defensive back, who has had a whirlwind week to prove it. He committed to Toledo on Sunday, then de-committed Monday to further evaluate his situation with family and coaches. On Tuesday, Michigan State offered.
Tipton's other offers are from Massachusetts, Ohio, Duquesne and St. Francis (Pa.).
Another A-K Valley incoming senior, Kittanning receiver Nick Bowers, verbally committed to Pitt in January.
