Pitt receiver T.J. Porter was suspended indefinitely from the football team following a Feb. 22 arrest for driving under the influence, his second such arrest within the past year.

Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt said Monday only that Porter's suspension was for "disciplinary reasons."

Allegheny County Court records show Porter is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing April 1 on charges of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.

The charges were filed by city police in February.

Court records also show that Porter pleaded guilty Oct. 24 to driving under the influence and was placed on the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for one year. The program is for first-time offenders who can have their record expunged if they successfully complete all of the court's requirements.

Those charges were filed by city police on May 5, 2008. Charges of careless driving, purchase of alcohol by a minor and failure to obey traffic control devices which were filed at the same time were later dismissed.

Court records also show that Porter has been issued a summons to appear in Housing Court for a charge of disorderly conduct filed by city police Nov. 12.

Porter, a 6-foot-1, 185-pounder from West Palm Beach, Fla., will be a senior this fall. He was the Panthers' third-leading receiver with 25 catches for 357 yards and averaged 11.5 yards on 16 punt returns last season.
