Contractor digs up woman's bones in Pittsburgh backyard
Contractors found the bones of a woman Wednesday morning while building a deck at a house being renovated in Pittsburgh's Garfield neighborhood, officials said.
Police responded to a 911 call about 9:40 a.m. reporting the discovery of what appeared to be skeletal human remains in the backyard of a vacant house on Black Street, Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Alicia George said.
Officials suspect the remains are female.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office and forensic investigators were called to the scene, which was cleared by early afternoon.
