Former Turtle Creek man pleads guilty to federal gun charges
A former Turtle Creek man pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court to violating federal firearms, U.S. Attorney Scott Brady said.
Hashim Rashad, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Prosecutors said that on Oct. 18, 2017, Pittsburgh Police executed a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of Larimer Ave. in Turtle Creek while Rashad was in the house.
Police recovered a 9mm handgun with an obliterated serial number from the couch, a stolen Bryco Arms Jennings J-22, and a .22 handgun.
Rashad was previously convicted of voluntary manslaughter — a crime punishable by more than one year in prison — and was on parole and prohibited to have guns or ammunition..
Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 15.
