Marshals arrest fugitive wanted in slaying of Swissvale teen
U.S. Marshals on Wednesday arrested a man wanted in connection with the killing of a Swissvale teenager earlier this year, authorities said.
Allegheny County police on Friday identified William H. Smoot, 19, as a suspect in the May shooting that killed Valleen Davies-Mack, 17, near Collingswood Playground.
Marshals arrested Smoot about 6:30 a.m. at a home in Pittsburgh's Hill District, according to county police Sgt. Ken Ruckel. He is being held in Allegheny County Jail without bail on charges of homicide, robbery, reckless endangerment and firearms violations.
Police found Davies-Mack shortly after 7 a.m. May 18 when a passerby reported an unresponsive person on the ground near the playground. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
