A high-speed crash that began with a failed police pursuit early Thursday in Pittsburgh’s Arlington neighborhood injured a woman and her 5-year-old daughter, according to police.
The two were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, said Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesman Chris Togneri.
The incident began when Mt. Oliver police spotted a speeding SUV with sparks flying from underneath it. Officers attped to stop the SUV, but its driver sped away. Mt. Oliver police pursued briefly but then stopped, Togneri said.
The SUV soon crashed into four parked cars on Spring Street in the city’s Arlington section, Togner said. The SUV flipped over, and the man driving it took off.
Police arrived and found a 28-year-old woman and her daughter outside of the SUV, Togneri said.
