Pittsburgh gang member pleads guilty to drug charge
A Pittsburgh street gang member pleaded guilty in Pittsburgh federal court to conspiracy to sell crack cocaine at Greenway Projects in the West End.
Bryan Smith, 24, pleaded guilty to one count before Senior U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab.
Prosecutors said the FBI and Drug Enforcement Agency in November 2017 started a wiretap investigation targeting the Greenway Boy Killas, or GBK street gang, and drug trafficking in and around the Mountainview and Crafton Heights apartment complexes, known as the Greenway Projects.
Smith is the first GBK gang member to plead guilty in Operation Gang Green, according to U.S. Attorney Scott Brady’s office.
Another 27 have been indicted since June.
Schwab scheduled Smith’s sentencing for May 28. Smith faces up to 30 years in prison and a $2 million fine.
