A more than three-hour standoff in Brookline ended peacefully Monday evening when a man who had climbed to a roof following a domestic incident was arrested, police said.
Shawn Redmond, 30, was taken into custody on two outstanding warrants, said Public Safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler. It hadn’t been determined as of Monday night whether he would face additional charges.
Police responded to a call of a domestic dispute at a residence on Chelton Avenue at approximately 3:54 p.m. A woman left the residence unharmed, but Redmond refused to come out.
SWAT teams were called to the scene because Redmond was thought to have access to a firearm, Toler said. Police determined Redmond was on the roof. Firefighters and EMTs initiated a rope rescue. Redmond was able to climb down the ladder of a fire truck.
He was arrested at 7:37 p.m. and transported to UPMC Mercy on the believe he was under the influence.
