A part of the Bayer Welcome Center and an adjacent garden at the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden near Oakdale have been named for donors.

The Ada and George Davidson Event and Culinary Center bears the name of a Sewickley-area couple who have been involved in the planning of the center since its inception.

The Peirce Celebration Garden is named after former county Commissioner Bob Peirce and his wife, Joan.

Together, they contributed “more than a half-million dollars” to the 640-acre garden project, says Kitty Vagley, director of development of the site.
