A Pittsburgh man is charged with robbing the First National Bank of O'Hara last month.
William Robert Eger, 51, of Pittsburgh's North Side is accused of robbing the bank at 1195 Freeport Road at about 10:20 a.m. Nov. 17.
Eger was arrested by Pittsburgh police Nov. 30, Allegheny County Detective Sgt. Kenneth Ruckle said Monday. Eger allegedly admitted to robberies in Pittsburgh and West Mifflin.
“He also confessed to robbing the O'Hara bank,” Ruckle said.
He is charged with robbery and terroristic threats in the O'Hara case.
He is also accused of walking into a bank in Pittsburgh's West End and pointing to his waistband as if he had a gun on Nov. 24.
Pittsburgh police arrested Eger when he attempted to commandeer a vehicle and got caught after a wreck. In that case, police charged him with robbery and fleeing an accident.
Eger was in the Allegheny Country Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond pending a Dec. 16 preliminary hearing before District Judge Elissa Marie Lang in Sharpsburg.
Ruckle called Eger a serial robber. Records show Eger has served several state prison sentences and was released from state prison the last time a little more than two years ago.
