Background: Martin has worked at UPMC Shadyside for the past 16 years, the last four as senior vice president and chief operating officer. Before that, he was the chief executive officer at Los Altos Hospitals in Long Beach, Calif., and chief operating officer of Doctor's Hospital of Lakewood.
Education: Martin holds a master's degree in business administration from Golden Gate University in Los Angeles, and a master's degree in psychology from Washington State University in Pullman.
