Japanese researchers report they have found a way to turn cow dung into plastic. Scientists as Hokkaido University said they have been able to convert the methane gas released from cow droppings into benzene and hydrogen, which are two key components of plastic. Hokkaido is located in a largely rural area of northern Japan. Researchers said they were inspired to go ahead with the experiment as farmers found it increasingly difficult to get rid of the accumulating cow manure. © Copyright 2005 by United Press International
