Police arrest, use Tasers on men in South Side fight

Pittsburgh police used Tasers on two men who began fighting with officers trying to break up a fight last night on the South Side.

Officers responded to a report of a disorderly crowd at the intersection of East Carson and 16th streets around 2:30 a.m., police spokeswoman Diane Richard said. A fight broke out nearby as the crowd was dispersing.

While officers tried to break up the fight, Corey Schindler, 22, of the South Side "began to throw punches," Richard said. Collin Schindler, 22, of South Park joined the fray and began fighting with officers, Richard said.

Police then tased both men.

It was unclear if the men were related. They were taken to the Allegheny County Jail and charged with simple assault, aggravated assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

The 25-year-old man who was fighting with the Schindlers refused medical attention at the scene.

Preliminary hearings for the Schindlers is scheduled for next Thursday.
