In recent months, the Ford City Council has brought disbanding the police department to the table.
I cannot speak directly to Ford City’s financial situation, nor can I speak for the people in the borough.
But I would like to share some knowledge based on almost 20 years of law-enforcement experience in Armstrong County, including a few years in Ford City in the 1990s.
One particular piece of knowledge I have gained through my experience is this: The people who comprise the criminal element — from petty crimes to major crimes — are like water and electricity. They always take the path of least resistance.
The elected officials in Ford City need to keep that in mind.
