Pittsburgh police hope someone saw a Munhall woman in the hours before her half-clothed body was found beaten and suffocated in a picnic shelter at McBride Park in Lincoln Park. Homicide detectives have spoken with someone who last saw Noreen Apjok, 37, walking along Eighth Avenue in Homestead about 6 a.m. Tuesday. "Since she was found at 9 a.m., the next contact she had was probably with her killer," assistant police Chief William Mullen said. "We hope someone saw her with someone else, or getting into a vehicle." Police believe Apjok had used crack that morning. A friend saw her walking alone toward the Eat 'n Park restaurant on Eighth Avenue, Mullen said. At the time, she was wearing a black, thigh-length Steelers jacket, a gray T-shirt and jeans. Three hours later, a man walking his dog in McBride Park found her body under a picnic table. She had been sexually assaulted, beaten and suffocated. Police are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest for her killing. Anyone with information is asked to call the city homicide squad at (412) 665-4050.
