The following reports were issued by state police:

COWANSHANNOCK -- Neither driver was injured when a garbage truck, driven by Doby Well, 57, of Lucernemines, collided with a pickup truck, driven by David Kotula, 29, of Punxsutawney, at the intersection of Routes 839 and 85 at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday. Police said Wells reported that his brakes were not working and he could not stop and said they are investigating the claim.

ELDERTON -- Police said several firearms were taken from the Gone For A Day sporting goods store along Route 422 at 4:11 a.m. Thursday. Police said the business was locked at the time of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 724-543-2011.

MAHONING -- Police said they are investigating an alleged fraud and forgery in which a known person allegedly stole $17,000 from the bank account of William Harmon, 45, of New Bethlehem on July 17.

SOUTH BUFFALO -- Matthew O. Plever, 27, of Coraopolis, remained in the Armstrong County Jail Thursday after being arrested for driving under the influence along Route 28 at 1:42 a.m. Wednesday. Police said Plever was found passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle along the grass berm of the northbound lanes. He is being held on $2,000 bond, according to jail records.

ELDERTON -- A female juvenile, not identified by police, faces charges after she backed her 1995 Pontiac into another car at the intersection of North Main and Saltwork streets at 6:45 p.m. Sunday. Police said the driver was stopped at a stop sign and began backing up, as if to change direction. Police said the driver briefly pulled into a parking area after the collision, but then left the scene traveling west. Police Donald Hepler, 69, of Kittanning, and his three passengers, of Elderton and Kittanning, were not injured in the collision.

KITTANNING TWP. -- Gary Sthal, 38, of Kittanning, reported that his Route 422 residence was entered between 6 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Monday, and items were removed. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 724-543-2011.

CADOGAN -- Justin Wilson, 20, of Cadogan, was charged with making false reports to police after he reported that someone had removed his rented 42-inch television from his residence at 308 First St., at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Police said the investigation revealed that Wilson had taken the television to a friend's house so he would not have to pay for the television.
