Police Report

The following reports were issued by state police:

PLUMCREEK -- Several people were hurt when a pickup truck driven by Clarence E. Dunmire, 80, of Kittanning collided with a sport utility vehicle driven by Michelle C. Knab, 34, of Altoona at Route 422 and Margaret and Cherry Run roads at 8:42 a.m. Thursday. Police said Dunmire attempted to pull onto Route 422 from Margaret Road and hit Knab's vehicle on the passenger side, causing it to spin and roll onto its side. Police said Dunmire was not injured, but Knab and passenger Mary Clatterbaugh, 67, of Altoona suffered minor injuries. Knab's 15-year-old passenger and an infant passenger also suffered minor injuries in the crash.

EAST DEER (Allegheny County) -- Kaitlyn Noel Swank, 18, and her passenger, Austin Tate Kerrigan, 18, both of Kittanning, escaped injury when Swank's car collided with a deer on Route 28 at 1:51 a.m. Friday.

COWANSHANNOCK -- John Kaplon, 23, of 417 Sgros Road, Dayton, was arrested and jailed on forgery, theft and drug charges Thursday. Police said Kaplon took multiple checks from Anthony Kaplon, 45, of Dayton and then cashed them at various locations for a total of $1,145. Police said that as he was being arrested, John Kaplon was found to be in possession of suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned by District Judge Sam Goldstrohm on two counts of forgery and one count each of receiving stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance, along with a probation violation, and placed in the Armstrong County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $25,000 bond.

WEST KITTANNING -- Tyler Watterson, 20, of Kittanning was cited for harassment after he threatened a 17-year-old Kittanning male during a phone conversation at 5:25 p.m. Thursday.

ELDERTON -- Police said a total of $502 was taken from the Mars National Bank account of William Henry Langer III of Elderton between 8 a.m. Oct. 27 and 4 p.m. Oct. 28. Police said the unidentified suspect used Langer's debit card to make five withdrawals.

MANOR -- Anthony Balsone, 18, of Ford Cliff reported that his cellular phone was stolen from Lenape Technical School between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday.

ETNA (Allegheny County) -- A 22-year-old Pittsburgh man, not otherwise identified by police, faces drug charges after he was stopped for speeding on Route 28 at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday. Police said a search turned up suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

WHITE TOWNSHIP (Indiana County) -- Nicole C. Peterson (no age listed) of Ford City told state police at Indiana that her VISA card was used to make several unauthorized purchases between Nov. 4 and 7 amounting to $457.81.

RAYBURN -- Michael C. Gelorminio, 74, of 501 Third Ave., Patton, told police a moped and battery charger were stolen from a shed at his camp at 575 River Road between Oct. 18 and Nov. 7.

NORTH BUFFALO -- Robert J. Fortuna Jr., 36, of Apollo was struck by a blue flat-bed truck as he was working along the side of Cadogan-Slate Lick Road at 4:15 p.m. Thursday. Fortuna told police he was struck in the back by the truck's mirror and he fell to the ground. The truck driver kept going south without stopping. Fortuna was taken to ACMH Hospital for treatment.

EAST FRANKLIN -- Justin Kronen, 25, of Kittanning was charged with criminal mischief after he allegedly punched the windshield of a car belonging to Heather Jackson, 25, of Kittanning in the parking lot of Morris Tire at 2:20 a.m. Saturday.

RURAL VALLEY -- Clifford John Nichols, 52, of 128 S. Water St., Rural Valley, told police five pink paint balls were shot at the vinyl siding and a picture window of his home at 10:30 p.m. Friday. The paint balls penetrated the siding, causing about $100 in damage. The window was not damaged.

MAHONING -- David Adams, 30, of New Bethlehem was cited for harassment after he allegedly was involved in a physical altercation with Sara Adams, 30, of New Bethlehem at 8 p.m. Saturday.

REDBANK -- Tim Houser II, 34, of Timblin was cited for harassment after he allegedly was involved in a physical altercation with Kelly Houser, 33, of Timblin at 2 p.m. Saturday.

EAST FRANKLIN -- Deanna King, 24, of Freeport told police she was driving on Route 268 about noon Nov. 2 when a 53-year-old Kittanning man (not identified by police) forced her onto the berm and threatened her. King said harassing phone calls and text messages have been made to her by the suspect since June 16.

SOUTH BUFFALO -- Jessica Simmons, 26, of Ford City was driving south on Route 28 at 8:30 p.m. Saturday when a deer ran into the passenger-side front fender of her vehicle, causing moderate damage. She suffered minor injuries. She was cited for a safe speed violation.

APOLLO -- Charges of harassment and disorderly conduct were filed against Nathan Ian, 18, of Apollo; Jeffrey Allan Richards, 17, of North Apollo; and Justin Johneric Zaffuto, 19, of North Apollo in connection with a fight on South Fourth Street involving as many as 36 juveniles at 2:15 p.m. Saturday. During the incident, Zaffuto allegedly pushed Kerstan Verbryck, 17, of Apollo, and police said Ian and Richards engaged in a fight.

WAYNE -- Brian Faber, 39, of Dayton was charged with animal cruelty at 6:30 p.m. Friday after police said he neglected several animals in his care.
