Poppy Day being held in Scottdale

Poppy Day will be held Friday in Scottdale. This event is sponsored by the Scottdale American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 240. You receive a poppy when you make a donation. Please be generous.

The Scottdale Borough Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at 10 Mt. Pleasant Road. The public is always welcome to attend.

Visit the Scottdale Farmers Market at the Rite Aid parking lot. New additions for purchase: you can order eggs and meat. The market will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. every Sunday.

Center Bethel Church of God in Alverton will hold its vacation Bible school from 6 to 8:30 p.m. starting July 17.

Boys and girls, become a member of the Southmoreland Area Midget Football Association. Its mini-camp will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. July 24 to 28 at Cardiac Hill Field.

Advanced ticket sales for the summer music fest to be held at the Scottdale Firemen's pavilion, 405 Porter Ave., are at NAPA Auto, North Broadway. This two-day song fest will be held July 21 and 22.

Lunch in the park will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at gazebo park. There will be food and you can try to win door prizes donated by local merchants and the Scottdale Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Scottdale Fall Festival Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the community room of the Scottdale Bank & Trust.

June went out on a wet farewell. The grass is higher and greener. Summer has officially been announced and vacations have been planned and are in the works.
