The agent for Irish rock band U2 denied the group's world tour would be delayed but refused to confirm when, or if, it would begin.

John Giddings, responding to media reports a mysterious "family illness" would delay the March 1 start of the band's tour, said the Internet was to blame for the confusion, Pollstar reported Wednesday.

Giddings, head of Clear Channel's London-based Solo Agency, also declined to respond to a question about whether or not the tour, reportedly set to begin in Miami, would be postponed.

"You can't postpone a tour that you haven't announced," he said.

Three European promoters told Pollstar they have unannounced U2 dates and haven't been told they may need to move them.
