PPG Industries Chairman & CEO Charles Bunch discusses the opening of the new PPG Architectural Coatings regional headquarters in Cranberry with Governor Tom Corbett, left, and COO Michael McGarry Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014.

PPG Industries opened a new, regional headquarters for its architectural coatings business Thursday in the Cranberry Woods business park. Nearly 400 people — including employees from other PPG sites in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky and Delaware and 150 new hires — work there now. The company plans to employ 550 people in management, marketing, customer support, information technology and administrative positions by 2015.

The state Department of Community and Economic Development provided a $1.25 million grant, $618,000 in job creation tax credits and a $139,050 grant for training. The Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority provided a $2 million loan that must be repaid within 15 years.

“What you're doing here demonstrates not only that it's the workforce of today, but also the workforce of tomorrow,” Gov. Tom Corbett said during opening ceremonies attended by about 200 people.

PPG leases the building from Westinghouse Electric Co.
